About this tool
This generator uses a cryptographically secure source of randomness to produce unpredictable passwords. Each character is selected from your chosen set with uniform probability.
Strength & entropy
The strength meter shows the entropy of your password — the base-2 logarithm of the total number of possible passwords for your settings.
- Below 40 bits: weak.
- 40–60 bits: fair.
- 60–80 bits: strong.
- 80+ bits: very strong.
Tips
- Use at least 16 random characters for important accounts.
- Don't reuse passwords across services.
- Store your passwords in a trustworthy password manager.
- Turn on two-factor authentication wherever it is offered.
