About this tool

This generator uses a cryptographically secure source of randomness to produce unpredictable passwords. Each character is selected from your chosen set with uniform probability.

Strength & entropy

The strength meter shows the entropy of your password — the base-2 logarithm of the total number of possible passwords for your settings.

• Below 40 bits: weak.
• 40–60 bits: fair.
• 60–80 bits: strong.
• 80+ bits: very strong.

Tips

• Use at least 16 random characters for important accounts.
• Don't reuse passwords across services.
• Store your passwords in a trustworthy password manager.
• Turn on two-factor authentication wherever it is offered.
